After our success at the Commercial Vehicle Show last year, we thought it would be fun to try out a different show in 2023 - Road Transport Expo!

RTX is a relatively new show on the scene, and we were looking forward to seeing how it would stand in comparison to shows we had attended in the past. This year, we had a lot to show off in our exhibit. As usual, we wanted to showcase our own brands- namely MirrorShield, TreadSafe, TruckChef, CabStore, and iAM- but we had two extra special trucks to bring along too!

The first of these was, of course, our famous DAF XF Super Space from The BIG Truck Giveaway. Having just finished filming episode 6 of the YouTube series, the DAF was looking better than ever, and we were excited to show off all of the accessories we had added. This included our most recent addition- a set of custom lime green MirrorShields!

The second truck we brought with us was really something special: the first Mercedes Actros Edition 3 in the UK, enhanced with some Kuda accessories of its own. To this truck, we fitted some side skirts, a CabStore locker, a TruckChef microwave, a LUXMOV Tv, and a TreadSafe catwalk. We were so proud to have such a fantastic truck on our stand, and we want to give a huge thank you to Mercedes for helping to make this happen!

The Journey:

We began the journey up to Stoneleigh Park on Monday 26th June, when Tim and Tom were tasked with moving up  the trucks that morning. Thankfully, they weren’t alone, as our good friend Trucker Tim was on hand to help out!

Tim offered to load  our trucks onto his trailer and drive them up to the show…unfortunately this wasn’t without consequences! The left-hand side skirt of the DAF was lightly scraped in the loading process, much to Millie and Ruby’s disappointment since they had painted them themselves. This will be fixed at a later date!

With the trucks loaded, Tim, Trucker Tim, and Tom headed to RTX, making sure to stop along the way to honk the air horns and give Trucker Tim’s fans some tones! Sadly, Trucker Tim wasn’t going to be staying with us for the show and headed home as soon as the trucks were delivered.

Later that evening, Millie and Ruby headed up to join the boys, ready to set up the following day.

Set Up:

Tuesday 27th June was set-up day, and all the team were up bright and early to get to work. We began by unloading the vehicles and assembling what we could. This included some brochure stands, large feather flags, and stands to display spec sheets for each truck. Millie and Ruby were tasked with filling up the flag base weight bags with water, which turned out to be quite difficult!

Next, we drove in the trucks and positioned them in a symmetrical fashion. Along with this, we also had a trailer to put in the middle, which would open up and provide seating and entertainment for guests at our stand. Inside the trailer, we had tables, chairs, a wall- mounted TV displaying our YouTube videos and a fully stocked bar for drinks and snacks. We made sure to leave a selection of our product brochures and BIG Truck Giveaway flyers on the tables inside for guests to read and take home.

The trailer itself was covered with our own graphics, showcasing our own brands, our social media, and The BIG Truck Giveaway. We also made a selection of goodie bags to hand out to customers, featuring some fantastic merchandise from both ourselves and some of our favourite brands. We were so excited to welcome people to our stand the next day!

Running The Kuda Stand:

Road Transport Expo was open from Wednesday 28th June to Friday 30th June, and each day was filled with excitement for us! Our trailer and set-up were really great to have, as we had a comfy space to bring people in for a chat, a drink, and some snacks. We were very fortunate with the stand space that we had, as it was right on the main path and attracted a lot of attention!

On the first day, just minutes after opening, Millie and Ruby were delighted to be approached by a fan of The BIG Truck Giveaway and took the opportunity to show them around the DAF!

We were fortunate to get the chance to meet lots of our YouTube subscribers throughout the course of the exhibition, and it really put into perspective how

many people are loving the series. Millie and Ruby spent much of their time handing out cards with QR codes linking people to the YouTube channel and had some really

fantastic conversations with passers-by who became interested in entering our giveaway. At the time of writing this blog, we have had over 200 scans on our code, and 900 new subscribers since the start of the show- we consider this a big success!

Plenty of people also took an interest in the Mercedes, taking the opportunity to climb inside and take a look at all of the Kuda enhancements. This was certainly an eye-catching truck to have on our stand and drew a lot of attention from the crowd. It was really great to see people getting excited about this new generation of Mercedes Actros!

Throughout the day, Tim and Tom were busy networking and showing off our own brands. many people approached our stand asking for information on our products and it was so good to see how much interest our brands were generating. It was also great to hear from those who had been happily purchasing from us for a long time!

Thoughts On the Show:

Road Transport Expo was absolutely buzzing with energy and was full to the brim with exciting stands both inside and outside. Walking around, everyone was very welcoming, with many offering food and drink, and some offering fun interactive games and competitions that helped showcase their products in a unique way. Many of the set-ups were extremely impressive and large in scale, and there was a generally busy, bustling atmosphere around the whole of Stoneleigh Park. Some brands even had roaming characters, and we were lucky enough to meet the Michelin Man himself on several occasions!

We were extremely proud to see several of our own products featured on various trucks across the show. It's always so nice to see images from our customers, but its even more exciting when you get to go and check out their purchases in person! We saw some of our side skirts, one of our TreadSafe catwalks, some MirrorShields and an iAm kit.

The venue itself was a great size, and the event staff were fantastic and helpful. We especially liked the golf buggies which ran from one side of the park to the other and carried passengers upon request! There was a great selection of food offerings on site so we were able to eat a good meal every day without having to leave the show. Ultimately, it was an incredibly well planned, fun, busy show and we had a great time!

We would love to return to Road Transport Expo in the future, and we’re happy to say this year was a huge success for us! We look forward to seeing more from the event in the years to come.
