Last episode, our new giveaway truck- Rory- arrived safely back at Kuda HQ. Now, it was time to start accessorising! As the appointed stylists this series, Millie and Ruby sat down to have a chat about their vision for Rory’s future, and what they could add that our subscribers would love…

Putting Plans into Motion:

The girls settled on a white and blue theme for the truck, with just a hint of orange mixed in. This meant that they would be looking to match their accessories to these colours, and further down the line this would all come together with a wrap. Using our viewers’ comments on Episode 1 as inspiration, the girls began to create a wish list for the Renault.

By the end of the brainstorming session, a number of accessories were selected. This included- but was not limited to- an under-glow kit, LightFix light bars, Strands Siberia SkyLord lights, and our very own brands: MirrorShield, CabStore, TruckChef, TreadSafe, and iAm. We thought this truck would be a great opportunity to really showcase what we make here at Kuda, so getting as many of our own brands on as possible was a must!

With these plans in mind, the girls headed off to find our fitter for the series: Will. Will worked with on the DAF in the first series, fitting a number of accessories including airhorns, a LUXMOV HD Smart TV and an Indel B Underbunk Fridge. We thought that this time around, it would be nice to have one main fitter responsible for the giveaway truck. Of course, others will be stopping by to help out, but we really wanted to make the Renault Will’s personal project that he could work on and take pride in.

Adding the Air Kit:

Once all was agreed, Will immediately got to work on adding the iAM Air Kit, as he advised that this would have to go on first. Before we could do this, however, we would have to remove the old one! With the help of Carl and Jordan, Will removed the top section of the air kit off of the factory uprights and carefully lowered it to the ground. These uprights would be used in the installation of the iAM top spoiler, meaning that a full kit would not be needed.

All of our iAm Air Kits are made right here at Kuda HQ, and the team quickly got to work on creating the perfect top piece for Rory. Of course, this meant that it had to be made in a deep blue to match.

There’s something extra special about being able to design, engineer, make and fit a product from the ground up, in-house. Adding our own products to the giveaway truck really gives it that exclusive Kuda touch!

Once complete, Will got to work on fitting, and with the help of Carl and Kieran, the air kit was lifted on top of the factory uprights and fixed on.

The iAm air kit gives the truck a whole new look, making it look more stylish than ever before. However, an iAm kit isn’t just for style; having an air kit increases the aerodynamic capabilities of a vehicle, and in the process, saves fuel while driving! This would be a fantastic bonus for our winner, giving them the capacity to save up to £3,525 per year!

Keeping it Cool:

Last series, we added the fantastic Indel B Oblo 1600 to the DAF, and it was a brilliant and useful addition. The cooler that we installed continues to keep our winner cool on the road, both while driving and while parked up. We knew that we needed to come back this time with another Indel B cooler - when it comes to air conditioning units, Indel B simply can’t be beaten! However, with the addition of the air kit, we knew we couldn’t add a cooler to the roof…

Instead, Millie and Ruby selected the Indel B Sleeping Well Back Plus+: a rear mounted cab cooler with premium cooling output. Offering a maximum power of up to 1600 watts, this cooling unit- like the Oblo 1600- can be used whether the engine is running or not. Of course, it was up to Will once again to get this fitted, and we think the final result looks great! The fact that the back of the unit is already white means that it automatically keeps with Millie and Ruby’s chosen colour scheme too.

But this wasn’t all we wanted to add from Indel B; as you’ll know from the last series, Indel B also make top of the range in-cab fridges. We know how important it is to have your favourite snacks on the road with you, so Millie and Ruby chose to add the Indel B Underbunk Drawer Fridge for Renault. With this installed, our winner will be able to have a cold drink or a chilled snack just about anywhere! It’s also the perfect companion for our TruckChef microwave (which will be added later!), as drivers will be able to keep all of their cooking ingredients perfectly chilled too.

MirrorShields In White:

Our MirrorShields can be matched to any solid RAL colour, but luckily, they already come in white, which is just what Millie and Ruby wanted! Just like our iAm Air Kits, MirrorShields are made right here in the UK, and the team got to work on creating the perfect pair for Rory. Once made, Jordan gave them an extra good polish to ensure they were in perfect condition for our giveaway truck.

Will once again installed these, and we think they look fantastic. Our MirrorShields are super tough, yet extremely aerodynamic- perfect for protecting your mirrors without causing any unnecessary drag on the vehicle. The white MirrorShields really stand out against our dark blue truck, and we can really see the theme coming together.

Making ‘Rory’ Official:

Last series, we never got around to officially naming our DAF, but this time, we wanted to make Rory’s name official. What better way to do this than with some personalised number plates? These number plates would just be for show and wouldn’t be road legal for our winner, however, we wanted to do something similar to our ‘WIN ME’ plates from the DAF, and create something special to show throughout the episodes.

For this, Millie enlisted the help of Olly, one of our RND technicians. Olly used the same software as in series one to design, print, and coat some custom number plates. It was Olly’s idea to add ‘WIN RORY’ to the plates to solidify the Renault’s name officially in the series.

After a few failed attempts (Olly is new to using the software!), the final plates came out brilliantly, and Millie and Ruby fixed them to the truck with clips.
