It Just Keeps Getting BETTER! | The BIG Truck Giveaway Episode 7

We’ve now passed the halfway point of our BIG Truck Giveaway Series over on YouTube, and this episode, it was time to fit the light bars!

Last episode, our viewers were able to choose from a selection of Strands lighting products - the Night Guard LED Bar, the Insane Driving Light, and the Night Ranger - and we were so excited to see which lights won the vote! By quite a wide margin, option B - the Insane Driving Light - was the viewer’s choice. As big vehicle lighting enthusiasts, Millie and Ruby were quick to hurry down to the warehouse to get a closer look at our winner!

Winner Of Our Poll:

The Insane Driving Light is a part of the Strands Dark Knight range, creating a dark, sleek look with the use of black casing and minimal reflections. The Insane Driving Light features a unique oval shape, dual amber and white position lights, an ultra-bright driving light and a built-in strobe! The shape of this light really compliments the lights we had already installed into the sun visor, and we just knew they would look great together. We were so excited to be fitting not one, not two, but six of these to our top light bar!

The light bars themselves were supplied by LightFix, a state-of-the-art vehicle accessory manufacturer best known for their vast range of stunning light bars. The bars we chose for our DAF were the Front Liner Mini under bumper bar and the Sky Light 'H Type' top light bar. We chose these in the black powder coated option; we thought this would really compliment the rest of the truck, particularly the Kuda Black Edition Hadley Airhorns!

Fitting The Light Bars:

Dale (who is quickly becoming a series regular for The BIG Truck Giveaway) fitted both of our light bars this episode. First, Dale attached the Insane Driving Lights to the Sky Light bar, ensuring each wire was correctly placed in the process. Next, the light bar was fitted to the DAF. We already had a lot of accessories on the roof of the cab, so we knew it would be a close fit. Luckily, the light bar fit perfectly around the air horns, cab cooler and name board!

The bumper bar, however, was where our first major issue of the series arose. In the previous episode, we fitted mud flaps to the truck (no thanks to Trucker Tim, might we add!), but due to the positioning of these, they were an obstruction to our under bumper bar. After much deliberation, we decided that an under bumper bar would be a better addition than mud flaps, adding a lot more value and spectacle to the truck. Besides, the mud flaps were actually scuffed quite badly by Trucker Tim during the journey to Road Transport Expo, so the light bar was bound to be an upgrade!

 The Updated Truck: 

After Dale had fitted the light bars, he tested that all the lights were working properly, including the built in LED’s. Everything was looking fantastic, and we were really happy with our decision to go ahead with switching out the mud flaps for the Front Liner!

For the second half of the episode, Millie and Ruby gave an updated tour of our giveaway truck, showing the viewers everything, we’ve added so far, along with before and afters of the truck. It’s unbelievable how far the truck has come in such a short time- from picking the truck up back in March, to now, we have added a total of 12 unique accessories, a stunning wrap from Chapple Signs, and our own WIN ME plates! The front of the cab is now complete; it’s time to start working on the back…

Time To Vote:

Once again, the end of the episode meant it was time for the viewers to vote. Next episode, we will be adding lighting to the back of the cab, and it’s up to our audience to vote for which Strands lights they want to see featured! The options are as follows:

We are so excited to find out the results of this poll - Strands is one of our favourite brands here at Kuda and we cant wait to really bring the back of the cab to life with our customers choice!
