Let There Be LIGHT! | The BIG Truck Giveaway Episode 8
In Episode 8 of our BIG Truck Giveaway we go ALL out for our final exterior episode, we fit the last of our rear lighting, Millie and Ruby sort out the UltraLED Switch panel stickers and we see the truck at night!
With the weeks just flying by, we are now two thirds of the way through our BIG Truck Giveaway, and the exterior of the truck is finally complete! This episode, it was time to add the finishing touches by fitting our viewers’ choice of rear lighting, plus a few exciting surprises…
The Winning Lights:
The winner of the last poll, by quite a wide margin, was the Strands Red Tiger LED Bar Work Lights. These are slim, sleek, and stylish, and we just knew they’d look fantastic on the truck! Alongside these, we also decided to throw in two Strands Red Panda work lights to place either side of these, and a LightFix Cab Liner to really bring the whole thing together. We couldn’t wait to get started on this addition!
Our rear lights were fitted by Dale (once again!), who also fitted our front light bars and a range of other exterior accessories. Dale has become a series regular for The BIG Truck Giveaway and has gotten to be a huge part of this project. It’s amazing to see all of his hard work coming together, along with the efforts of Will, Connor, and the rest of the Kuda engineers. The final look of the exterior is really fantastic; we can’t thank our team enough for their effort, without them this project would not be possible!
UltraLED Switch Panel:
Along with the rear lights and Cab Liner, Dale also fitted an UltraLED Switch Panel (which is a brand new product to Kuda) linking all of the lights and airhorns together. This switch panel is truly impressive, with 12 buttons, RGB backlighting, and a huge range of stickers to apply. Applying the stickers, however, wasn’t left up to Dale…
For 'Millie and Ruby’s mission' this episode, the girls were tasked with figuring out which buttons triggered which lights, and then applying appropriate stickers to make navigating the switch panel super easy for our driver. Unfortunately, this wasn’t as easy as it might seem.
The girls set up a system to get the job done: one of them would sit inside the truck and press the buttons, and the other would stand outside and report back on which lights came on. The only sticker pre-applied to the switch panel was the air horns, and while inside the truck, Millie couldn’t resist scaring Ruby by setting them off!
After some trial and error, the girls worked out where all the buttons were and chose some very interesting stickers; a particular highlight was the ‘zombie’ sticker, which Millie chose to represent the full beam on the sun visor lights . We're sure our winner will really appreciate that... right?
Finally, it was time to see the truck at night, to fully capture the lights at their best. Millie, Ruby, and Tom came
back to work at 9pm and took the DAF to a remote location to make the most of the lights in complete darkness. Truly,
the lights were brighter than the team ever imagined, with even the small grill strobes lighting up the entire road!
The rear lights looked extremely sleek, and the work light high beams were incredibly bright.
The true highlight of the night, though, were seeing the six Strands Insane Driving Lights in
action! There truly aren’t words to describe the brightness of these lights; with the high beams on, you can see
for miles, and the strobes are super powerful. As noted by Tom in our video, whoever wins this truck is going
to be one very lucky driver!
We love the look of these rear lights, our driver will be sure the stand out on the road!
