We DIDN'T Expect This... | The BIG Truck Giveaway Episode 3

For episode 3 of The BIG Truck Giveaway, it was really time to ramp things up! With our Kuda Black Edition Hadley Air Horns now fitted, we were ready to make not one, but two new additions to the giveaway truck.

In the previous episode, viewers had been given a choice between 2 name boards - one that was a Dutch style and one that was a flat, LED style - and the latter option won the polls. We were really excited to see this fitted as we all love lighting here at Kuda, and as our customers had pointed out, it was bound to look super sleek!

Fitting The Name Board:

Once again, this fitting job was primarily undertaken by Will, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the name board was perfectly attached, and everything was caught on camera. “Will Cam” makes a return in this episode, showing a POV of how the name board was wired. 

Also aiding with the fitting this time was Connor. Mostly working within our TruckChef microwave department, Connor is a skilled fitter who has been with Kuda for many years. It was great to have both of these guys on the job, and it couldn’t have gone better!

Connor was a great help this episode, we can't thank you our engineers enough for all their support in this project (Millie and Ruby's mission would very much fail at these bigger tasks!)

A Special Surprise:

With the name board fitted, we thought it was about time we threw in an extra surprise for our viewers: some Vepro side window deflectors! Millie and Ruby hadn’t been given anything to do yet this episode, but that was about to change; the girls were going to try fitting for the first time EVER!

Vepro side window deflectors are notoriously easy to fit, with a variety of designs for different vehicles. The DAF XF deflectors come in a ‘push to fit’ style, which simply slide into the window channel. Will gave an excellent demonstration and fitted the right-hand side - it was then up to Millie and Ruby to fit the left.

Before beginning the job, the girls took the truck out of the fitting bay and moved it to the beach (where our trucks are stored) so they wouldn’t be judged by the fitters and they could fail in private. Once successfully hidden from sight, the girls began to fit the side window deflector… or rather, trying to fit it.

Millie was up first, putting in a good attempt and attaching the clips with some success. She couldn’t quite get the deflector to slot in, however, so Ruby joined in to try and utilise their combined strength. Eventually, after a solid 20 minutes of effort, a lost clip and a lot of difficulty, the girls were amazed to find that they were able to slot in the deflector and complete the job!

Of course, Millie and Ruby aren’t professionals, so their work had to be signed off by somebody qualified. For this, they brought in Kieran - one of our fitters - to carefully assess their work and put it to the test. He was very satisfied overall, which made the girls extremely happy! Even Tom came to have a look and admitted that they had done a good job!

We thought it would be nice if the giveaway truck had a special set of number plates for the duration of the series, and Tom tasked Millie with creating these. Despite having never used the technology before, she got to grips with things quickly, and the design was ready in no time.

After a few minor issues with the printing (and one set of plates with the 'W' cut off), both the back and front plates were successfully completed. We think these look great, and they stand as a constant reminder that this truck will be won by one of our subscribers!

This episode, viewers have been given the power to decide what design they would like the truck to be wrapped with! They can choose:

B) Retro Design: stylish white details on the front and sides! A classic look.
