As Seen On Top Gear!
We explore the Kuda accessories featured on the Mercedes Actros Edition 2 in this Sunday's episode of Top Gear on BBC One.
We have some big news to share!
After a long wait, we can finally reveal our top secret project! On Sunday, the 19th June, A truck which was given the full Kuda treatment was featured in the latest episode of Top Gear featuring Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff as they attempted to qualify as lorry drivers before embarking on a stormy HGV road trip across Britain.
At Kuda Automotive, we were very fortunate to have a few of our accessories and aerodynamics feature on the Mercedes Actros Edition 2 which was driven by Chris Harris. In this blog post, we will be exploring all of the products added by Kuda!
Outside The Cab:
Chassis & Side Skirts
On the outside of this Mercedes Actros we have the 6 x 2 chassis with the 490 tank which we colour matched seamlessly to the truck to retain the sporty AMG feeling with additional ‘Kuda’ decals down the side. On the other side of the truck, we have integrated the stainless-steel steps into the side skirts also with a black powder coat trim for consistency throughout.
Additionally, we added the TreadSafe Safety Platform to create a safe working area behind the truck, which also provides a nice styling option especially when matched with the matte black cab. Our TreadSafe safety chassis catwalk system has been designed from the ground up to ensure the up-most of safety whilst working behind the cab. At Kuda Automotive we can match the platform with any solid colour, gloss, or matte finish.
DVS
Around the side of the cab, we also have our DVS (Direct Vision Standard) System. The DVS kit is the perfect companion for keeping both your driver and other road users safe, by creating a virtual all-round vision and protection system. On this truck we have a nearside camera as part of the DVS and nearside sensors, cameras, and alarms, but they all communicate and link up to the Mercedes factory system. The DVS kit is active to 15mph, when you put your left hand down, you get the alarm “warning, vehicle turning left”, and then the sensors then become active.
However, the clever part is, if the sensors don’t detect anything the alarm will not continue which may cause an annoyance to other road users. As soon as the sensors detect anything, the alarm will start again. So, you have a continuous intelligent safety system watching your back. When you are turning you will get also get a full screen display on the Mercedes screen.
Inside The Cab:
Fold Down TV
Inside the cab we have a gorgeous fold down roof mounted, touch screen multimedia monitor. We’ve done TV’s for a while now however, we can now offer a HD touch screen TV with a free-view box and tuner built in, so you can get all your channels or even catch up on what you've missed whilst driving through the smart TV interface.
This fold down super sleek TV also comes with ambient lighting and built in LED reading lights, for when you've had enough of staring at screens. This is all controllable via the included remote or mouse.
CabStore Rear Locker and LED Lighting
And how could we forget our famous CabStore rear locker system, which can be seen throughout the TG episode behind Chris' head! CabStore is our exclusive in cab storage with large storage compartments perfect for additional in cab comforts and appliances, the textured look and colour matched OEM style finish helps preserve that factory fresh look. These CabStore lockers provide an additional 500L storage on top of the already huge Mercedes lockers.
We are now offering a subtle yet striking neon LED strip option, that can sit underneath the CabStore lockers which operate with the Mercedes factory switch, so it can add to the mood lighting which makes the cab feel light and inviting. The LED strip is an improvement on other designs as you don’t see all the individual diodes and can come with a colour change option.
Finally, in the GigaSpace centre locker we have the TruckChef microwave. The industries leading 24v microwave oven with its huge 20 litre capacity, powerful 800w cooking output and tailored fitting kits for almost every heavy truck.
